Pursuit 365 Day 79: Sandra Pike
Sandra is an award-winning realtor, innovator, and devoted mentor.
Actions define us. They make what we believe, known to others, and are our shining moments. Whether my parents are aware of it or not, their actions determined my future. Their hard work, generosity, and unwavering belief in me set the stage for how I would live my life. I don’t think that on the day they gave me, their only daughter, a substantial amount of money to get back on my feet, that they knew they were giving me and those in my future a gift of incalculable value. After a poor relationship choice, I was left in debt. The money was to renovate my home and install a small apartment that would supplement my income and help me stay soluble. We agreed I would pay them back when I eventually sold my house. My parents, of moderate-income, had worked very hard for their savings. Their trust in me defined them as people and parents. Believing in me, allowed me to believe in myself. They led by example.
At the age of 40, I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and began to build an extraordinary life. My deeply ingrained work ethic, drive, and collaborative nature fostered relationships with many talented and like-minded individuals. With an eye on innovation, I built an award-winning team with whom I am so proud to work. Mentoring others is a passion. Seeing people believe in themselves and their skills is so gratifying. We must lift each other up! I get fired up about innovative ideas and technologies and have paired with prominent companies that allow the team to help families locate homes that enhance their lives.
Success, stability, and a belief in myself enabled me to take my parents on two cruises and travel to other places of interest. Future trips will include Dublin, which is a long-standing dream of my fathers. Still, one of my proudest moments will remain the day I was able to call my father and tell him to check his bank account. His loan had been returned to him, and his faith in me had not been misplaced. Actions matter!
