How on earth does a family with combined income of $99k afford a $450k to $500k house? Is that before or after tax? If that is before tax you would struggle to qualify for $400k let alone actually being able afford the monthly cost of ownership.
Besides the limiting factor in most cases for first buyers is the 5% down. If you dont have $25k to put down you wont get approval for $500k anyway.
